Ascension Academy Strings
The Ascension Academy Strings Ensemble for 2000-2001 consisted of eight talented and highly motivated students under the direction of Mrs. Eleonora Lopez. It would be difficult to overstate the success of the group during their first year. Sweeping both district and state events at the TAPPS competitions and thrilling audiences throughout the year is just the beginning.
Their success is in no small part due to Ascensions belief in an environment that fosters individual excellence, promotes teamwork, and supports strong commitment to the arts. There are now two Strings groups, beginners and advanced.
Beginners classes are for students who have never played or are currently playing in Suzuki Book 1 or 2.
Beginners classes have delayed note reading and is Suzuki styled.
Advanced classes require orchestra literature equivalent to Book 3 and above.
Placement is at discretion of orchestra leader.
Public Performances and Outreach Concerts are held periodically throughout the year. (Dress uniform is required for all performances.)
